I see that Cabelas has these on clearance. I currently have a redfield rampage 20-60x60 spotter, which isn't much. Would this be much of an upgrade? TIA

i had the Krotos and it was decent for the price. if any thing like the krotos then i would put on par to the athlon ares.

Apparently the CX Pro is the same as the Krotos and the Krotos was very similar to the previous gen Ares. My buddy has an Ares G2 that is fantastic for the money so even if the Gen1 is almost as good as the G2 then it should be great for the $300. At least that's what I'm telling myself because I bought one!

I ordered one today as well. Had a gift card and some points saved up so didn't cost me much. It's super compact and I've also been told it to be equal to the Ares. I'll report back soon.

Got the Cabela's 65mm scope today. A quick 10 minute evaluation under overcast skies = For 300 bucks you won't touch a scope anywhere close to this.
It looks to me that this scope is indeed a repop of the Ares give or take a smidge.

I'll do a bit more glassing at dusk weather permitting.

***Edit- Did some more glassing right before dark. Very pleased. Great clarity. Great contrast. Great focus. Well built scope.

Looks very similar to the Ares in so many ways. I'm sure the same factory produced both scopes. F.O.V. is identical on both (biggest in class actually). Eye relief is identical on both. Both have same eyepiece. Only differences I can find is:
Cabela's is magnesium body, Ares is aluminum. Nod to Cabela's.
Cabela's is Nitrogen purged, Ares is Argon purged. Nod to Ares.
