I am looking at pulling the trigger on the pro... I have saved enough for it but will be used backcountry style 9 day hunt. Last western trip slept with a buddy and it got cramped fast... We became much closer post trip but rather have my own at the low weight cost of 2lbs.. Anyone have any input / advice on the old model etc love to hear them. Durston is extremely active on these threads and I have read all but not sure what to expect for a first tent and the idea of DCF sounds great but for a penny.

There are already several great posts on this tent on this site. Try searching. High odds you might be asking everyone to recreate the wheel, when your answers are already here for 5 min of your invested time.

correct sir. I have spent past few days reading them all through. Just seeing if anyone else had any ideas on the new pro as it has only been out few months now. Thank you for the reply!

Just realize that DCF has its limitations. Lighter, but bulkier, and doesn't handle abrasion well. Don't pitch it where it will rub against anything. Silpoly will do 90% of what the DCF does at a much friendlier price point.

Understood. I am worried about trying to pitch a trekking pole tent in bad weather instead of free standing

I have the Silpoly 1p. great design. honestly I don’t think it would be harder or easier to set up than a free standing tent in bad weather. Setting up any tent in high wind just sucks.

as far as dyneema goes, it has i pros and cons as Far as bulk, durability and performance go Relative to poly or nylon. The biggest differences are cost and weight. If you have the $ and want to save the weight, I say go for it.

I have the solid 2p on the way - can’t wait. The pro was not worth the premium to me. Can’t wait to see how it performs.

Thank you! I am leaning towards it really hard at this point plus can have it for few trips over summer and get used to it before going

I bought the pro2. It is awesome. I would highly recommend the 2 over the 1. I wouldn't want it any smaller, even when I'm solo. And the 2 is only like 3 oz more than the 1.

a good read. At this point, I dont see a negative when it will be the first tent and hopefully only i buy for a while
