The Kifaru Duplex with Mountain Rambler is my favorite. It is laid out perfectly for my needs. Long gun goes down the middle of my back, shooting kit goes in the lid, and spotter and tripod go in the side sleeves. On the left side of the belt, I have a medium pocket, on the right I have a mini for my camera, and a water bottle pocket. I also have a small belt pocket on the lower, back portion of the main bag for my digiscoping adapter.
Daypack and meat hauler, all in one. You could replace the Gen II with the cargo panel.
This has my jacket in the Gen II. It gets lashed below when hauling out quarters.
I recently purchased a MR Dragon Slayer and have been impressed with it. While I have not personally hauled much of a load with yet, it is rated for 80#. Definitely a bombproof pack.
Duplex Frame, nomad bag, XTL lid, Grab it. Med pouch on one side of the belt, eberlestock scabbard to strap in the center while rifle hunting... 1 day to 7, ability to haul more than you can lift.
The kifaru Late season is a good option but i would get the new duplex with a dry bag cargo panel setup so you can upgrade and get a bag down the road. The duplex will be more comfortable packing elk quarters
