Went back to South Dakota where I grew up for Thanksgiving with 3 deer tags in my pocket, and my dad had the same 3 tags. To be short, we were able to fill 4 of the 6, and my dad may still fill a fifth. I drove from California and headed straight to my cousin twice removed bison ranch. My dad was up first. We spotted and were stalking a small 3 point when we spotted a larger buck (4x2). After watching them bed we backed out and walked around 2 miles up around and popped over right where they were bedded. A doe spotted us and stood causing the buck to stand. My dad put him down with the 7mm at only around 40 yards.
We got him quartered and packed up and headed back to the truck only around 3/4 mile away.

I was up next. As a non-resident, this tag can take 5-10 years to draw so I was planning to be a bit more picky on what I shot. Spent the next day and half and glassed up some decent deer. Watched this mule deer chase around this coyote which was fun.

The following morning we woke up to snow, 40mph wind and 15F temps. I also wanted to get back home to see the rest of the family for the holiday so decided I was going to be a bit less picky. Spotted a buck walking up a draw three over from where we were on some river breaks around 1 mile away. Crossed over the couple drainages in the snow and wind and crawled up over and spotted him chasing some does around. He was just over 200 yards. Squeezed one off on the 300 win mag and he stood still for about 30 seconds and went down. Upon getting up to him, I was surprised that although it still clipped lung and destroyed the liver, it was further back than I expected. After some thinking and plugging into a ballistics calculator, I was surprised that the difference was almost certainly due to not accounting for the cross wind. I didn't realize how much affect it could make at just 200 yards. Lesson learned

We were now headed back down to my parents place to chase white tail. Came across some sheep hanging out by the road. The sheep around there are not far off of domesticated...

About 2 minutes into our rifle hunt, I had a buck chase a doe down a draw right in front of me while I was walking in. It was so early in the hunt and unexpected I was unprepared and didn't close the deal. My dad however did shoot a solid white tail for the area.

After checking some trail cams we found this funky buck that kept walking by our stand, so I decided to give my archery deer tag a go. First evening, just like clockwork, he comes by. He has a decent left but man his right is strange. Has three different spikes going up, one of which goes down the back of the skull not really visible in the photo. And then has this strange plate going down the side of the head. Not sure if this is from an injury he had sustained or what.

Went out a couple more times for my rifle white tail tag and saw some bucks, but nothing worth buying another freezer for lol My dad has seen a few bucks while out with his bow but hasn't yet let one fly. He still has until the end of the year for that tag.
