He does some of the best cats I’ve seen. $3000.00 is around the base price for a life size. Habitat and open mouth add to the cost on all taxidermist price lists I’ve seen.

Full disclosure: He is a good friend of mine that I shoot and hunt with a lot. The recommendation is not based on that. It’s based on the fact that life size cats are his passion, and is always researching and trying new things. He does great open or closed mouth cats.

The mounts posted above look great. Just make sure the taxi can get the eyes/face right. The eyes make or break a cat mount imo.

Check out Mike Ballard of Rugged Edge Taxidermy in Bigfork Montana. He is a lion hunter and amazing taxidermist who really captures the look of a lions face and the way their body is formed. My son and I were each lucky enough to take book lions over the last couple years, and after lots of searching, Mike rose to the top of the heap.
Congrats on your trophy. I'm sure it'll be a beautiful mount.

Pay more than less and make sure you get a good taxidermist. Cats might be the hardest animal to get right. Especially the face. Most of the low end guys give the cat a look like he’s worried or surprised.

Phil Soucy, Dennis Harris, Jerry Huffaker, Monarch Taxidermy. All do great cats.

Phil is considered by many to be the best, though. He is my choice for my leopard.

I agree that cats must be one of the hardest animals to mount. I rarely see one that looks good to me. I would go with somebody who specializes in cats.
