tac 7 springs: a first timers pov

Well.... TAB has his list of stereo types and I'm glad I read about it before going because it made the trip all the more better. If you're in the truck market, go to TAC. You'd think that it was a requirement to drive a pickup truck because every variety, make and model was represented.
OBS Tacos and Fords ... check
Brodozer and Rust Bucket.. check
4 cylinders and diesels... check
Just off the showroom floor and custom Kentucky pinstriping... check
As far as stereo types.... oooph... so much hilarity. The funniest for me was a Cam Hanes fanboi. No joke, he was wearing a Lift, Run, Shoot UA t-shirt. Honest truth the dude was probably the same height and face structure as Cam. But imagine if Cam didnt lift or run and ate twinkies for breakfast lunch and dinner. My wife was keenly adept at pointing out all of the Huntress types. All in all.. it was a sight to behold

Now, enough of the mockery. The event was fairly well organized and there were lots of good vendors. My wife and I shot Leupold and RMEF courses. This was both our first times shooting a true 3d target course. I got my wife her first bow about 3 months ago so she was new all around and very much enjoyed the whole deal.

There's definitely some people at these events that do/wear some different stuff.

We went last year and did three courses. Had a blast. Lost a few arrows. Learned a lot.

Can't go this year but I will go again.

Shot 7 springs Friday. We shot prime course in the morning and the leupold course up in the afternoon. We wanted to shoot the RMEF course but there was a big line and hardly anyone on the leupold course. Definitely a nice event and perfect weather.

RMEF was nice. Not overly challenging other than the long shots. Furthest shot was 122 yards, which I didn't have enough sight travel to do that so I moved into 100. I think RMEF had 1-122 yd , 3-100yd, and 1-95 yard shot. The rest were fairly manageable in the 65 yard range. I think the shortest was 30 yards. The angles of attack weren't terrible.

We were disappointed that the RMEF Course had a lot of 1/3 scale elk targets! Probably 75% of them!

Shot the Nock On course Sunday. I thought it was good, a few longer targets. 3 over 100 to be exact, shot the bigfoot with dudley which was cool. Overall, wish there were more extreme angle shots.

Next year looking forward to hitting a few more courses, from what I'm hearing prime and BRCC were the most difficult.

I shot the BRCC course on Thursday. A lot of steep angles and shots out to 80 yards. It was humbling. Lost two arrows and broke two. It was pretty fun. I'll definitely practice more before next year. Shooting up hill was different. I don't have any place to practice that. I might try VT next year. It's about the same drive.

i will never discourage that.

My opinion is that hunters should be the better example of fitness than most. It tends to disgust me when i hear someone claim how healthy deer meat but they're downing 2 packs of swiss cakes and a mountain dew during a 3 hour hunt sitting in a tree stand less than 5 minutes walk from their vehicle. This a different rant for another forum sub section

I didn't shoot the TAC 7 Springs this year but did last year. I can only get 85 yards out of my sight before it gets too close to my arrow for comfort. I do a lot of long range steep angle shooting at 3D targets we have set up around the house, but the TAC is challenging and our group was responsible for some of the arrow carnage around the targets.

I like to think of TAC like proving to myself my bow and form are ready for season. I either end the day thinking im ready to arrow a buck in the high country or with a renewed enthusiasm for getting my shit together.

I viewed it as a culmination of "what do i need to work on" . ill do it again next year
