Got back from a hunt today and leaned my rifle in a padded rifle case against the truck. Gravity took over and the case/rifle slid down and hit the ground. Couldn't have been that hard, right? Not thinking too much of it, I was shocked when I took the gun out to wipe it down. The rifle must've landed right on top of the scope, bending/breaking the eyepiece right at the parallax ring. I checked zero and it was way off. Thankfully SWFA has a lifetime warranty for the sake of my own mistake. Unfortunately I have to wait till scopes are back in stock.

I have been contemplating putting my current scope up for sale after the season so I could get one of those "bulletproof" swfa scopes and not have to worry about my scope ever being off again. More to think about.

IMO, most scopes, if not all, would fail that “drop test” with all that energy forced into that one spot.

Gives you a chance to flip those rings around when you remount ;).

But sucks to break a scope. As others have mentioned, I doubt there are many scopes that will survive an impact on the eyepiece consistently.
I've never mounted talleys before, so I went back and forth on which direction to mount them. Now that you've mentioned it...

Or swap them out for sportsmatch
When you took the scope off we’re the rings damaged?

What a POS. I may just throw mine away and replace it with an old Nikon that survived a 5 ft drop on concrete that bent the front "bell" and never lost zero . 😉

I’m not sure why people need to go to hyperbole. No scope is break proof, and certainly none on the eyepiece. It’s a probability.

He certainly would know best. The dude is an encyclopedia of scope knowledge.
I'd be curious if @Formidilosus , or anyone for that matter, knew of an aftermarket remedy for this.

There isn’t a remedy. Nearly all scopes will snap at the eyepiece if they take an impact on a hard surface.
