The vaunted unicorn has arrived. 3-9x42, FFP, 20.2 oz, 13 5/16 long with diopter set for me (which I'll get to). Arrives in fairly plain box, no accessories or documentation included.

Turrets are OK, slightly soft between clicks but tight enough to where it would take some effort to spin them unintentionally (no zero stop). Good size, not overly big, not too small for use with a gloved hand. Reticle is thin at 3x but with the heavy outer bars there should not be much of an issue even when light is low. I actually really like it at first look. Glass is decent, not as bright as my Credo 3-9 side by side. Eye relief seems tight from 7x and up when hand holding. Will mount it up later to see how it is then. The one "issue" is that I had to spin the diopter waaay out to get it set for my vision. I'm hoping it won't be an issue. I wear glasses but have never needed so much adjustment on anything else. Overall it's not bad, just a simplistic FFP scope.

Got it mounted up in Talley extra lows. Plenty of clearance, easy to get set up. Eye relief is fine, a touch picky at 8-9X but nothing significant. The more I mess with the reticle the more I like it. Still need to shoot it of course to see for sure.

I also had to set the reticle focus way out from factory setting compared to any other scopes. Two fixed 6’s and one 3-9 all 3 were the same. I have better than 20/20 vision so it’s not your glasses. Not sure why it bothers you, causes zero issues in the field.

Doesn't really bother me, just seemed odd to screw it so far out. But, from another thread, seems pretty common on this scope.

Honestly I was underwhelmed when I got my first one. But the more I used it the more I appreciated it and they have since multiplied.

They were my favorite hunting scope until I got a 3-9 Trijicon Accupoint recently. Wow. For my style hunting it's almost perfect.

If the 3-9 SS would lose the windage knob, it would be a big improvement. There must be a reason for the overly large occuler. Have grown to appreciate the reticle.

If they put the quick adjust eyepiece from the 6x on the 3-9 that would be a nice upgrade.

Yep, even the Accupoint's glass on the SWFA would be an improvement, in my experience.

But as for use overall, for most us, it's an SFP vs FFP issue with the Accupoints ...

I prefer sfp for 'normal' ranges. Ffp is better for dialing.

The Accupoint with mil dot holdovers is perfect for making hits out to 400, and that illuminated dot has to be see to be appreciated; especially in thick cover or in dim conditions.
