I recently picked up a STS 65 HD spotter that came with the standard eye piece. Having read some many reviews of the newer wide angle 25-50 eyepiece I decided to order one from Amazon since I needed it in a few days for an upcoming trip. The box says manufacturer date is 2015. Is this the newest eyepiece or did they come out with a newer model? 49440 is the model number I received.

As far as the design itself I don’t know of any changes. I have one of the originals sold and two more from 2021 and the color of the coatings differ slightly between that early one and the newer ones. Swaro tech didn’t know of any coating changes when I asked but said he wasn’t 100% on that. Never called back to follow up. I also don’t really notice any difference in viewing with the two but have never really compared very hard side by side. Your best bet is to call and talk to tech with the question. They have always been willing to help with these questions.

That number still seems to be current.

BTW According to tech the S series bodies have not had any coating changes from day one.

All of their boxes from a certain point are labeled 09/2015. That's not how you date their product.

What are the first 5 of the serial (include letters)

Thanks for the info, I knew how to date the scope but not the new eyepiece. My 20-60 has condensation all over the inside of it and I need to send it in hopefully to be repaired under warranty.

I had the same issue on mine and it was covered under warranty but you do have to pay to have it shipped...

I hate the STS 20-60 eye piece!

How is the 25-50 x compare to the original? I am dying on the vine with eye relief!

Just wanted to throw in my two cents here.

I replaced the factory 20-60x on my first generation vortex razor 85mm with the Swarovski 25-50x WA and I couldn't be happier.
Significantly increased FOV, along with considerably sharper resolution at the higher zoom levels... Love it.
I'm not really using my SS to judge, more for really long range glassing where my el12x50s just aren't enough, or for finding bedded elk in the late seasons at distance.
Pretty stellar results for what I've got invested in it.

Lol, no wonder I couldn’t find that again.
Yep, that stuff needs to be via pm, too. Mohave was lucky to grab it.

I had a guy notify me of a SWFA ultralight scope publicly and another slipped in and took it just before I saw his post. It's funny too, because I was doing guys here a solid posting about a sale.

Low rent, it is what it is.
