Not sheep, but i hunt deer in August at 9k feet with my supertarp. Weather is typically pretty good so I don’t take the annex until rifle season in October. It’s a great shelter.

If I pull the trigger so to speak it will be early August in the talketna’s . I was mostly worried about condensation used kifaru shelter for years and only once did it get to the point where it was raining inside just as bad as outside ,that was with couple days nonstop rain heavy fog ,kinda sounds like sheep weather

i loved my supertarp but as i got more mature, crawling in and out, trying to get dressed laying down got to be a real drag so i sold it,
if you are younger and limber ,go for it. i wouls have loved a rig like that when i was a kid.

Young I ain’t,will be able to add my name to the old guy list for hunting dall’s if I go,will be 2 months shy of 60 when the hunt starts. The shelter will be used mainly for spike camp, base camp plan on my sawtooth wondering now if a flat tarp may be the way to go. Lots of decisions to make before the time gets hear

basecamp....sawtooth with liner is solid but requires a pretty big footprint to set up. supertarp for day use, quick shelter or an overnighter if caught in a storm maybe? I love the sawtooth for the ability to stand up to get dressed, get in and out, etc. If this is a solo hunt, probably not an option, but if your going with someone else, having the two shelter system might be worth the weight. No experience sheep hunting, so my advice is only based on my experience with the two shelters. Used the sawtooth for basecamp on elk hunts and spring turkey. I used the supertarp on my last two mule deer hunts that were backpack style. I can see that being a nice shelter for tarp use if a storm rolls in on a sheep hunt, and just throw it up with trekking poles for quick shelter. I think the supertarp is a better option than a flat tarp IMO, because of its design, its a back up shelter if you needed it to be. Maybe throw in a lightweight bivy for use inside the supertarp if your worried about the condensation issue, but that adds more weight. Looking forward to hearing more tips and tricks though, because a lightweight hunter I am NOT> body OR pack....LOL.

It’s a guided hunt , so the sawtooth would stay at base camp and the super tarp would be for spiking out only. Trying to be as weight conscious as possible without being stupid at the same time.thanks for the replies

I’d go with the Seek outside Silex over the supertarp. I liked mine but prefer more headroom/space.
