Stupid question - Idaho general tag OTC

Hey guys stupid question here. But I bought an OTC deer tag and didn’t turn up anything I could put my tag on during the general mule deer season. Am I allowed to use the general tag during this late season for general whitetail deer? Sorry I’m an ID noob.

Only the "General" deer seasons. Not the whitetail only seasons. You would have had to have the whitetail only tag.

If you have a “Regular” general deer tag it is good for any units and seasons that fall in that section of the regs and unless it’s specified in the notes it’s good for either mule deer or whitetail. That means archery as well(you will need an archery validation should you go the archery route) There are a few units still open on that tag for both “any weapon” and “archery only” check dates in both sections(there will be a couple late season archery mule deer seasons coming up also FYI). There is a couple things to watch out for though. If the tag in your pocket is a 2nd leftover nonresident tag there are units it can’t be used and that’ll show in the notes in the regs. Also there are “general whitetail” tags but I’m guessing you don’t have one of those. Just keep straight that “regular” can be used on both species and “whitetail” is strictly that. Pages 8-13 in the printed regs cover regular general tags and 15-18 cover whitetail general tags.
