I'm stuck in Portland for the weekend on my way to fl I've never been here before what should I see or due for a first timer to the area

Depends on what you have with you. Central Oregon is pretty awesome if you’re wanting to venture out (about a 3hr drive). You could go hike Saddle Mountain (1.5h drive) then hit the coast.
There are some great breweries in Portland if you’re I to beer. I hear forest hills/ my tabor is pretty cool. I live about 45min outside of Portland and don’t venture into town that often. Feel free to PM me
If you want more info on anything.

Strip club capitol of the word, one can spend some time in the front country.

I would suggest a trip down the Columbia River gorge. great food and breweries, lots of waterfalls to.

Most breweries per square mile in the USA. Travel over to Hood River and drink more beer there. I tend to have a theme with my side trips: booze. I second McMenamins. Portland itself has a cheap/free tram system. Easy to get around.

If you fish, call Bischof's in Hood River and see if they have any availability. They have treated me well on steelhead trips. Could call around and see if there is a sturgeon boat with space. That is very fun.

Rent a car and head to the coast for the hell of it.

Thanks everyone I'll have to try a few of these if I can make the fishing happen it's in as well as a few a trip to the gorge and coast

Rogue and mcmenamins for touristy brewery stuff. Mcmenamins is a nice hotel with a hot pool in the basement. You can walk to Mother's for breakfast and get some killer french toast. Portland is a cool place for city stuff. Lots of good food and beer.

Hood River (the town) is nearby. You can hit the Leatherman factory along the way and pick up some cheap blems. There's tons of good hikes to waterfalls in the Columbia River gorge. Full sail brewing is a favorite of mine for lunch in hood River.

If you make it down to Central Oregon, check out the high desert museum outside of bend.

Damn good beer, even by Colorado standards. Should be able to get some quality seafood as well. So I guess I'm suggesting you get drunk and overeat?

The OR Coast is awesome. You’re not far from Astoria, head S from there. Lots of good places to eat all along the way.

It's protest season in hippie Portland, and tomorrow should be a real shitshow. Go join in and get your face on TV !!

The Columbia Gorge is really great. If you don't get to the coast much, you really do owe yourself that one. We all have cool scenery where we live, but a visit to the smelly ocean is a treat for guys who have to travel.

Its a shame you can't stay for the Fort Vancouver fireworks show on wed. Biggest show west of the Mississippi they say.

Rent a squatch costume and go hike Multnomah falls at last light...

In all seriousness, I can’t stand big cities, especially Portland. I would definitely second the idea of touring the coast. See if you can find a last minute spot on a charter and do some fishing.

Lots of good ideas so far. Lots of hiking options. Also another fishing option would be the Deschutes River. Not sure if the salmon flies are still hitting but that can be world class. It would be worth calling the Deschutes Angler Fly Shop. My first time there was this spring. The owner is a good dude. They also offer guide services if they’re not booked.
