I recently picked up a Golite SL 5 and I am thinking about getting a stove for it for later season or wet hunts. Just wanted to test the waters and see if anyone has had good luck with a specific stove in this shelter. Thanks in advance.

I've been using a 12" ti-goat cylinder stove. Not really because I thought it was the best, but because he was the only one that had stoves in stock on short notice. Generally speaking though, the 12" size seemed about the right size for the SL-5, which is a pretty small tent. Keep in mind that due to the dished ends, the fire box is <10" if you are comparing it to a box stove.

YK, how are you running the pipe? Up thru the top of the door?

It seems like most put the stove in the center near the pole, has anyone ever tried placing it elsewhere like along one of the short walls and running the pipe out of the wall?

Having the majority of your stovepipe inside the shelter has the advantage of giving more heat since the pipe itself will put off heat. If you put the stove near the outside wall you increase the risk of melting the shelter wall, and also lose the heat advantage of keeping a lot of the pipe inside the shelter.
