I'm considering adding a stove to the collection for above treeline, sub freezing temps.
I've had good success with my uber light Soto stove and a white gas stove for really cold stuff, but I'd like to move away from White gas entirely, and I honestly don't find myself out in temps below about 25-30 for camping now that I live at the coast.
But I'd like something more stable then the Soto and more suited to freezing/above treeline, which is only about 6000 feet around here, so it's more an issue of wind, then elevation.
Considering the Kovea Spider and the MSR Reactor. Anyone who's tried both have any suggestions/comments?
Kovea I would have to mess with a windscreen, but I gain the ability to invert the canister and save a couple ounces on short trips, plus it's lower.
Reactor is more efficient, so on longer trips weight may be a wash when fuel savings is factored in. Possibly less messing about without a windscreen? Possibly better in wind?
Anything else I should be looking at?
