Denatured Alcohol will do the same thing. you apply is on the hair side. Make sure you apply it around the eyes and tear duct and on any blood, also apply it on the back of the ears. Those are the first places the hair will start to slip. Also get it down to the base of the hairs. You are trying to kill the bacteria that breaks down the hair roots. When you salt it try to keep the skin side moist so the salt will penetrate. If it drys, it will make a film and the salt can't penetrate it to preserve it. when you salt it, fold it skin to skin for a few hours. then hang it from a limb or something skin to skin for about 5-7 hours to let the blood and juices the salt pulls out drain. You can then open it up so it can start to dry. I do taxidermy and my customers that do it this way, have no hair slipping on their animals. Good luck on your hunt
