I've got a 6900 and have used it for two years. I've only carried out (well, really, down) a mountain goat. I have the access bag as well as the camp pockets. I'm looking at the 7900 not so much for the extra room but for the "built-in" access pocket. I have to move the access pocket to get to the main bag and it just flops loose. It's nice to think I'd drop the access bag or carry that separately with a kill kit but I've just not used it that way.

I would think the single zip on 6900 would be easier to access the main bag in bivy mode which is the way I use the pack the most.

Anyone here have or try both? If so, what are your opinions?

I'm planning on getting a 6900 for the center zip, Im 100% sold on the center zip, to me it makes so much more sense than side zips etc. I also like the symmetrical shape of it compared to the 7900.

Resurrecting this thread because I’m debating SG 6900 or 7900. How big of a spotter can fit in the side vertical pocket on each? I have a Vortex 27-60x85 and want to carry it in a side pocket. If the bigger spotters will fit in both/either, will they fit on the side when the main bag is fully loaded? Thanks for the help, all. Stay healthy!

Yes you did. Thank you for the link. My searches didn’t yield that thread, so I appreciate the help. It answered the questions I have.
