Still or spot and stalk hunting bears in West Virginia/ East coast

Wondering if anyone on here has had much success still hunting bears in WV or on the east coast without bait. Seems like most guys buy a bear tag and get one while deer hunting or using hounds.

WV has been on my radar for bear. A couple guys I’ve discussed it with say the food source is the key, just like western hunting.
Got a buddy in Virginia that has them in his yard every fall.
