Standard Hoyt vs Turbo Model (Faktor)

I'm asking specifically about the 2014 Hoyt Faktor 30 vs the 2014 Hoyt Faktor Turbo. I've only been able to shoot the 30 but since I have a shorter DL (27") I was thinking about whether the Turbo model would be worth it for the extra speed?

My main question is whether the shorter brace height will give any headaches in the accuracy department? 6" on the turbo vs 6 3/4" on the 30. Another thing to consider is that ATA is 3" longer on the Turbo...so maybe this will balance out the shorter brace height? (I've also read that shorter DL shooters can get away with shorter BH than those with longer DL's...?)

Also, being that the cams are the same, will the draw cycle be the same between the two models? (I've heard that the Turbo is actually smoother but...)

Anybody with experience with both?

I can't believe I'm going to do this, but have you been over to archerytalk? There's a whole Hoyt section over there and someone would know. Unless OR Archer chimes in here with his expertise.

Having never shot either of those bows, I'd error on the side of the longer ATA unless you specifically need or want a shorter bow. 30" is a short bow. And I'm shopping for a 2015 in either the 30 or the Turbo, but I think I'm going to go Turbo and that's partially for the longer ATA. If you have a well-stocked archery shop nearby I wouldn't be surprised if they still had one, maybe both still on the shelf for you to shoot.

I can't believe you did that either. ;-)

My current go-to is a 2014 Carbon Spyder Turbo at 27.5" DL, and I do not have an issues accuracy-wise with the low BH. I personally find the cam to be very smooth, but IMO smoothness has a lot to do with familiarity and it is similar but less "humpy" than the prior cams (Fuel/RKT).

At your draw length the brace height will make no difference in my opinion. What you lose in "forgiveness" with the brace height on the turbo is gained back by the longer A2A. I personally shoot a 2013 Spyder Turbo at 27". I prefer the longer A2A as it has a better string angle so I can have a more comfortable anchor point which to me helps in my accuracy over a 3/4" longer brace.

Beni, you need to let these gents know what you ultimately picked up...pretty awesome bow!

i have a 27'' draw and picked up a faktor 30 earlier this year. shot the turbo as well. personally, just felt more comfortable with the 30.

@ 27" draw I'd say go for the turbo.. 3/4" brace height ain't much and you could use a little free speed.. It's nice and smooth, not much of a difference there (that's why I say free speed, cycle isn't harsh or anything)

I have a 28" draw and I'm running a 2013 Spyder Turbo.. With that being said, the new Nitrum and Carbon non-turbos have nearly the same speed as my 2 year old turbo.. If I was getting a new one, I would get a non-turbo because the bow I have right now is plenty fast

Haha rhendrix, I didn't really wanna say till I actually had it in hand...might jinx it somehow ;)

But here we go...I was pretty set on just getting a Nitrum Turbo instead of the Faktor Turbo until I scored a deal on a 2014 Carbon Spyder Turbo with CBE TEK Hybrid 3-pin sight, Hoyt QAD rest, and Rage quiver....all for less than $1k.

But thanks for all the input guys. Really did help even though I ended up with something different...but I think I'll be happy with it ;)
