Curious if anyone has insight into any potential issues I might encounter putting a stainless barrel onto a blued tikka action? Tried searching and couldnt find any info.

Either an oem barrel or aftermarket. Wondering about galling, future removal without a relief cut, any different barrel torque recommendations, etc that might be an issue by virtue of mixing metals. Any ideas?
Love to hear from @NSI @Formidilosus or any of you guys with more of a clue than me.

Thank you in advance!

Use a good antiseize regardless of blue/stainless and you'll be good to go. You can never really get it as tight as factory, so that is not an issue... And, as tight as Tikka and Howa put them on from the factory, those don't gall. Tikka uses what appears to be antiseize. Savage barrel nuts are also exceedingly tight, and without any antiseize they don't really gall.

Now, if you neglect your rifle, then yeah, it can cause problems but it isn't galling in the first place.

As former machinist and millwright, I've dealt with plenty of dissimilar metals and the potential for thread galling. We used stainless steel fasteners into different chrome moly steel pieces often with just a little anti-seize to keep things happy. Chrome moly and Stainless steel are more similar than dissimilar. Threading stainless into aluminum is where you can get bad galling if there is any electrolysis at all. You should be good to go with a little high moly grease or a touch of anti-seize.

I have done several with zero issue, currently I have a stainless action with blued barrel and 2 blued actions with stainless barrels in rotation.

Up until the 1990s all stainless barrels were screwed onto blued receivers and it works quite well. An industrial hard chrome finish matches with stainless quite well if you ever want to upgrade it. This rifle has a stainless barrel and hard chromed blued receiver. IMG_0736.jpeg
