I recently purchased a few firearms from a widow and I have never shot this rifle. I do not know history of firearm, at all. Didn't know what I purchased when I bought this rifle, as the scope mount covered the manufacturers stamp and serial number, but it is a mauser bolt action Springfield model 1903 in 30.06 that has been sporterized. Serial number places the date of manufacturer of 1918 (during world war 1). Barrel stamp matches the action stamp. Because it has been sporterized, the original stock has been removed and a barrel and action have been placed on a stock more suitable for hunting (Remington style). Three holes have been drilled in the barrel for a scope mount, as well (typical in sporterized modifications). Overall condition of firearm is fair. Stock is knicked up and action appears well used. When I removed barrel for cleaning, someone had etched there name into the inside of the stock (pretty cool). I looked up SOLD sporterized models on Gunbroker, and 9 SOLD's averaged $350 (low $280 / high $450). I will sell for $315, sent to FFL dealer only. Buyer pays shipping
