Curious if anyone has insight on the usefulness (Pro’s & Con’s) of the double pin.

Thinking of moving on from my current 3 pin slider setup.

So I have a home-made version of this. I have an HHA single pin slider and I painted a second spot with white paint about an inch lower. It works very well for how I shoot and hunt. I started with a multi-pin setup and never got comfortable with it...I get confused easily and really hated how the sight was filled up with those bars holding the pins. The single pin coming from the bottom just works better for me.

When hunting, and when I'm practicing from hunting distances I set my single pin slider to 40 yards. At 20 yards and in that means I'm shooting about 12 inches high and I practice that shot a LOT. On an elk my thought is that I can just aim at the heart if the shot is relatively close. At 50 yards I'm shooting about 18 inches lower, and that is what my second "pin" is for. It would have to be a pretty special situation for me to actually use that pin on an animal, but I practice with it quite a bit. Beyond 50 I use the slider, but that is just for practice which my setup maxes out at 85 yards today. I have a Spott Hogg Double Pin on my wishlist so I can practice further out, it just didn't fit into the hunting budget this year.

So I guess I would say if you are someone that doesn't like multiple pins and prefers a cleaner sight picture AND you are comfortable gap shooting the way I described above a double-pin setup should work really well for you.
