I never felt the need to follow him. He shows up on some information searches, but not many.

I love watching his tutorials on how to select cartridges based on "knockdown power" and "authority down range".

Interesting to see how many of these boomer Fuddlore experts are slowly capitulating to admitting the 6.5 Creedmoor is a valid big game cartridge. I predict it'll take another 5 years before they start talking about 223...

I have a weird spomer thing that kind of matches my cousins watching real housewives and simultaneously hating it.

They all are bound by their job to act like all the dumb tiny differences in cartridges mean anything in the real world.

I saw him on a televised deer hunt competition....He and I believe 3 other hunters hunted a big ranch out west..... divided up for each hunter to pick and rotated daily..... Mr.Spomer was in bunkhouse mid day taking a nap.....and a young guide was still hunting hard.... walking into the wind he jumped a nice buck in thick cover and shot him twice with a bolt action rem.700..... That guide/hunter took home all the $$$$....

I’ve met him before, seemed plenty nice, but this was way before the interwebz.

I can’t prove it, but after I shared with him an unpublished article (on a gunmaker) I wrote once, not long after he did a feature on the exact same person. Maybe not bound to credit or thank me for the inspiration or idea, but I would have.

Several years ago I corrected Terry Weiland on something he said in his biography on Robert Ruark. In the second printing of the book, Terry mentioned me in the correction. That was a fair attribution, I thought.

The internet is like 24-hour news. In the rush to fill the void the quality of the product drops like a rock.

It would be funny to recreate this but answer 223 for every category.

How do i have to pay to see that.. I would die if RS did a reaction video. I can hear him now "ooh man... 223 would just be irresponsible for XXX" "Hey no way! Don't do that. A 223 is inappropriate for moose. Thats a very bad idea"

He's a fudd hero for sure and seems to have a bias against "the hornady formula" but most of his takes and preferences on ballistics outside of terminal performance have seemed pretty on point to me. He seems to value traditional flat shooting/MPBR metrics over efficiency and the benefits of higher BCs which doesn't make him wrong just different from folks who put a higher value on higher BC and lower recoil for shooting beyond MPBR.
