I tested my 8.5 ELs next to the 8x42 HD SLC in my local Cabelas for about an hour. The only difference other than ergonomics was edge clarity for the ELs. This was only noticed when looking at price tags at about 20 yards. In other words, no discernible difference when used in real world hunting conditions. If I had not bought my ELs for marginally more than the SLC (got them as a demo unit) I would have the SLCs in a heartbeat. You can't go wrong with your choice!

Who made me buy them? The clarity was just insane compared to any other binocular I looked through. I have to wait they are transferring a pair from another store in the size I want.
