Hunting Idaho post rut in a very thick and brushy unit here in a couple of weeks. Will be my first year elk hunting so rack size is not that important, this year. Do the spikes and smaller bulls tend to whole up in the nasty stuff like the mature bulls due to pressure or do they tend to stick with the cows? Been doing research for over a year and everything is about trying to kill a big mature bull. TIA

Spikes are like, "Geez, we really want to hang out with the guys, but...we don't know... we still really like our moms and hanging out with them too." Spikes can be ANYWHERE. I've seen them with a couple big bulls, just pal-ing around, and following cows - likely one being their mom. Also seen them with each other - just a bunch of teenagers hanging out looking for action.

Does the same generally hold true for raghorns? Figure by Oct 12th they'll be broken off too.
