6.5 creed.

Developing a load for a new gun in the family.

Anyone have anything on these bullets

130 tmk or tgk

140 impact

Mule deer and below

600 and in.

Realistically 400 and in just want to have the bullet to do it further

Using h4350 42-43g is a good spot for 130g bullets. I initially was working with 43g and a 130tmk but started to see a little pressure after 100 rounds down the barrel. I backed off to 42.5 and have stayed there. In a 24” tikka it’s going 2820fps is shooting 1.2moa for 30 rounds, this is with Lapua brass and win41 SRP.

With every 140g bullet I have used in the 6.5cm it has ended up in the 41-42g range using h4350. Velocity in a 24” barrel has been in the 2700-2750 range.

I have not used the 130tmk on game yet but based on what the 77tmk and 175tmk does on game and some gel testing with the 130 I have full confidence in it to 600yds. It is my choice of bullet for the 6.5cm every time now.

I have killed a number of deer and a couple of bears with the 130 tgk out of my 260AI, and have been very pleased with the results. None went further than 20 yards, furthest shot has been 501 yards.

I am a novice re-loader.

I loaded the 130 TGKs aka "Game-changer" for my 6.5CM for an antelope/deer round. Shot ended up at only about 100 yards and was a pass-through so I cannot comment on weight-retention, etc.

43.0 gr. of Reloder 16 chrono. at average 2850 mv from a 22" barrel.

I would be interested in finding out more about the Speer Impact too, seems like it would be a really good bullet. The Sierra's are well thought of around here.

Currently shooting the 130 Gamechanger out of my 260AI and 6.5 SAUM and they shoot just well as the 130 and 140 Bergers, single digit ES and they thump out to 1,200 yards. H4350 (260AI) and H4831SC (6.5Saum).

Recently saw Sierra is offering a 130gr TMK which I am excited to hunt with. The Gamechangers are supposed to be "harder" than the TMK. Both should fare well with any large NA game.

Yes. TGK has a thicker jacket.

Used a 140 Game changer in .270 this year in Montana on a big bodied mule deer. Bang , flop at 293 yards with a heart shot. Complete pass through as expected.

I really think any of your list would be fantastic.

We shoot the 130 TMK in multiple Tikkas chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, great bullet and would be my choice of the ones listed. Load is Lapua brass, but any will do, really, 43.0 grain of H4350 with Fed 210m primers and COAL of 2.810" or 2.82", I can't remember off the top of my head, and am at work, I can check later, though. Sierra's max load data for 130 TMKs with H4350 is 42.9, so work up accordingly...

Sorry, 2820 FPS muzzle velocity in 20.5-21" barrels, suppressed, and brass is LRP.

For that rifle I would look at the Berger 135 classic hunter. Fantastic accuracy! Good speed. That being said I have killed deer with the 142 SMK and the Hammer hunter 125. The 142 SMK was an old match load with H4350 running right around 2800fps. I shot that load for matches for many years and have complete confidence from 100 out to 1300 yards, very consistent performance. However I have no long range terminal performance with that bullet.

The Hammer 125 load was with RL16 running just over 2900fps. My son took three dear with the Hammer,100, 300 and 350 yards, each one shot, DRT. I would feel comfortable with that load, 500 yards and in, on white tails.

The 142’s I have used for blind hunting 80 to 150 yard shots, so I really can’t say how it would perform at longer ranges.

The 135 I have shot at ranges from 100 out to 1K and it is very accurate. I have a friend who has used on deer with good success at medium ranges 300 to 500 yards.

I have shot the 130 TMK 100 to 1K and while I have seen good accuracy at shorter distances, I was not impressed at longer ranges, poor group consistency.

BTW the barrels I have used with those combos, Bartlein 5R, Krieger, Proof, steel and carbon, 1:8 and 1:8.2 twist, 24” to 26”. Probably long by most standards for hunting but that’s what I use.
