My MSA sordins are dying after only 15 years. They squawk and chirp randomly and the sound quality is shit. I tried changing the batteries. Not sure there is anything I can do to troubleshoot them.

If there is no fix, I guess I will just dump them and buy a new set. Use case is range shooting, shotgunning, occasional hunting. I don’t really need coms integration so I am looking at a set of Sordin supreme pro x for about $250.

any input before I pull the trigger on a new pair?

I have a new(er) pair of Supreme Pro X with the Gel ear cups. Apparently they changed the design a few years ago and it's supposed to be better than before. I like them but don't love then.

Biggest pro is comfort. I can wear them for 8 hours and no headache or discomfort. 2nd biggest pro is they quiet loud noises but don't silence them. So I can be standing on a lice firing line and have a conversation with an instructor.

Cons I feel like the audio kind of sucks. They don't get very loud, and I feel like they don't pick up distant noises well. Also their NRR rating is not any better than other brands.

This is all compared to my old trusty pair of Howard Leight Impact Sports with noise fighter gel ear cups. I don't regret the Sordins just not sure I love then either.

I bought a new set of supremes for coyote season - I have them mounted to a helmet with my thermals. The sound is great and extremely comfortable. These are my 3rd set of Sordin - only thing I would like to try over these would be Ops Core Amp but they are 4x the price.
