What do you guys use? Wearing un-insulated Salomans and my feet get uncomfortable almost all the time. I am open to suggestions for this fall in CO.

I like the Cabela's Instinct Merino socks. I'm going to try darn tough this year

Darn Tough fan here as well. I also just went on a 11-day backpacking trip with my sons Scout Troop in Philmont, NM and wore Fox River liner socks under those. I had no foot problems where other scouts and adults in the group had several using no liners and cotton socks.

Just at home I also have to take preventative care for my feet almost daily with Gold Bond foot powder or spray and a soak in Johnson’s Foot soap. Warm, humid climates in the Midwest summer are the worst for my feet.

The REI Merino Wool socks are great for me year round. I wear them with my boots most days at work. Think they're usually on their outlet site for about $12 or so.

Just make sure you use a poly liner sock under merino socks. Wearing only merino socks makes my feet feel like they are on fire, and makes them bright red.

Had a couple different pairs of Darn Toughs and a couple different pairs of Farm to Feet, and the F2F felt more comfortable to me - better fit, better cushion, and softer fabric.

I too like Darn Tough but you may need to add a different insole as well, depending on what you mean by "uncomfortable"...some green Superfeet insoles might be in order.

No way, with today’s new socks I would never wear more than one pair. Heck a lot of socks are hybrid now anyways.

I had a few guys claim that on our 11-day Philmont hike and half of them discovered the hybrid sock wasn’t all it claimed to be and wish they had liner socks.

We covered 5-10 miles per day with avg 60lb packs over varied terrain. Downhill was probably worse on the feet. YMMV.

And I would never not wear a liner sock. I've been wearing liner socks with wool socks since the late 70's, and have NEVER had any of the foot or boot issues that I see talked about constantly on these sites.

Wore liners for many years then a couple years back I skipped the liners and didn't have foot issues like blisters, I thought liners would help reduce or prevent that. Also most of the liners seemed to make my feet cold, only the pair of thermax ones feet warm. When I quit using liners feet feel warmer and no blisters. But then that is also the time I started getting better boots, Crispi, Kennetrek, Meindl... The last I don't like so good though. Everyone's feet are different.

Darn toughs have been a top choice and they are a hybrid sock. I wouldn’t blame the sock for that,

In the 70’s yeah I understand, but with modern socks like the darn toughs, farm to feet’s, smartwool, point6, they are built to not need a liner and a liner with those types would be real uncomfortable for me.
