OK experienced reloaders, I’ve got a problem. I can’t find any reloder 23 and I like to shoot. 4831SC is pretty available and I’ve scored some. I know what bullets my guns like and I know the seating depth. Is it gonna be as easy as finding a charge that pushes them to the same velocity I’m currently getting with Reloder 23? I’m all ears, thanks guys. Trying to feed 2 different 280 ackleys. One with 195 Berger’s and the other shooting a 162 eldx -it’s what they both shoot the best from my (admittedly small) experience.

Ps: I’ve got a keg of retumbo but figure it’s a little slow…

If you know the jump, you should be able to find the weight it likes best. Not sure you can match velocity and it work, but sounds good in theory.

The 4831 is a touch faster burn rate than 23. Personally I don't think you'll achieve the same velocity based on my own experience. I've found 4831 to be accurate but on the slow side.

As stated above, both are excellent accurate & temp stabil powders but 4831sc will be a few fps short of r23 in my experience.
