Who knew it would be so much fun? I started solo fishing when the virus locked us down. It’s a strenuous hike to get to a small park lake. Well, at least the shortcut is strenuous. I just packed in some plastic baits and an UL spinning rod setup. It was game on! Nothing bigger than 2lbs but on the 4lb line it was fun.

then it started nagging at me. “Bigger bass”. I have some local lakes with very limited shore fishing. Way too much plant growth around the perimeters. Hmmmmm, I need a boat!

now I own a Hobie kayak. I played with it a few times to learn the system. Last Saturday I took one fishing rod and some plastics. A friend gave me a bag stuffed full of SENKO plastics. I fished one weightless. Boom. 2 hours of fishing I landed my personal best California largemouth. 2.5 - 3 lbs. oh boy. I might be hooked. My wife the nurse is working a lot lately. I have every Saturday to play. Shoot my bow, mtn bike, shore fish for bass, surf-fishing, and now kayak-fishing! Too bad I work! I need more free time. Any other kayak fishermen?

Me and the pup both love it. I have a bass boat too but sometimes it’s nice just to throw the kayak in the truck and not have to deal with hauling a trailer, boat maintenance, etc. I think it also keeps you kinda humble. You buy a bass boat and next thing you know you have 20 sum fishing rods, 3 grand in tackle, half of which you never throw, and another 3k in graphs. You take a kayak, a little tackle bag, and 1 maybe 2 poles and it’s more relaxing. You think less. You just enjoy the day.

Yeah, for the most part. If he gets hot or has to use the bathroom he gets antsy so I’ll bank the boat and let him out. He does his business and takes a dip then he’s ready to go again. He loves it. The wife says if I take either boat without him, he sits on the back of the couch and watches out the window for me to come back the entire time I’m gone

I prefer mine over my jon boat most times. Especially rivers or creeks that’s are the right size. I’m always amazed at how little water will hold good size fish.

The best part, to me, about kayak fishing is having the fish pull you during the fight. Even a decent sized bass fights well enough to pull a kayak around a bit. The big boys though, now that’s when it’s a blast!

I have a Jackson. I seem to spend more time attending to the needs of my 5 year old copilot then actually fishing, but it is a good time. I sort of think of kayak fishing/backpack hunting as related as similar type mindset.

I have the 3Rivers Big Fish in Camo, also have a Gheenoe.
Was in Tampa Bay backwaters once in the Gheenoe well before
first light tying a lure on, letting the tide just carry me along.
Apparently I drifted in to one of those Manatees sleeping on the
surface. Thing about tumped me over, wet me real good.
Most of the wet was bay water, most of it.

Do any of you guys stand up in them to fish, Bass or fly fish ? I really want one but my dog would not just sit there. I have a feeling the kayak would be turned over every time. If any body has he native watercraft titan it would be cool to hear your thoughts also. Envious of you guys, especially the one with the “ calm “ dog.

I have the Crescent “Splash II” model from 2015 and they are bad-ass.. track straight and won’t flip! I got mine rigged for fishing and a third seat for my grandson. One of the Best purchases I ever made besides my Kifaru 12 man w/large stove and Sawtooth!! 👍AA4FA0A5-797F-4D17-B084-C7F046AB45F1.jpegA8BD233B-AFA5-4199-97D4-0B258FF763E2.jpegE9A9A4DD-423A-429D-AD34-E9AEAF051A13.jpeg

I can’t stand up yet. My seat is so low. I jostle way too much standing up.
