I'm heading to Wyoming. I just saw that my spot might get 10 inches of snow on Sunday. I'll already have camp set up so it won't really be a big deal for me.

But... do you have any tips for using the snow while hunting?

Drive/xcountry ski roads in the dark until you cut elk tracks. Follow elk tracks. Kill elk. Post report to Rokslide (optional).

I love fresh snow while hunting elk (although 10” is a bit more than optimal). Good luck!

Obviously use it for tracking. The big issue with snow is if it thaws and then freezes it is pretty noisy. Fluffy powder snow is great to hunt in as long as you are properly dressed for the conditions.

Makes picking out animals while glassing easier. If you don't bring trekking poles you may want to or get some mircro spikes, helps on steep terrain and I like the poles when going down as I always tend to find the smooth deadfall under the snow and slide on my ass.

You're going to be blown away by elk sign if it materializes. Follow the tracks and find the elk.

Yep, the front is looking pretty good right now.

When are you arriving and which Region?
UW homecoming is this coming weekend, everything in Laramie will be packed, even the grocery stores.
