I was going through some of my gear tonight and found a SMD Lunar Duo tent that I forgot about. When I seen it I remembered my buddy giving it to me when he left the state. The tent is brand new and has never been used and has the 2 carbon fiber poles for setting up. My question is, is this a fairly decent tent? It looks like it would hold up in high winds pretty good but I'm not sure. I know nothing about SMD tents. Thanks for any info.

SMD shelters are high quality. The carbon fiber poles they offer are not as tough as using a pair of trekking poles from what I hear. I would not be worried about using the carbon poles in anything but the most severe weather.

Its a 3-season backpacking tent. The design won't carry much snow, the top is too flat. For below timberline non-snow use, its probably as good of a design as exists. SMD stuff is top shelf.

I've had this tent and agree that it is a great three season tent. I used their carbon fiber poles in moderate wind without issue and agree that for sheltered three season use they work fine.
