Small daypack reccomendations

Consider the Alaska Guide Creations Scout with binoculars harness. They hook together and you can use the pack with a bladder.

I use the AGC Stalker Hydrstion Pack it’s perfect for what I need. It can carry up to 3 liters of water if needed, but usually I just toss a little bit of water in it and throw in a layer and some snacks and a couple odds and ends. I like that it is compatible with my AGC bino harness or another chest rig so there aren’t a bunch of extra unnecessary straps. It is expensive for what it is, but I found a good deal on a used one.

Hi, yes I ended up going with this:

Not as nice as what a lot of folks were recommending but this turkey season ill give it a try to see how well it works. I have this hooked onto the back of my FHF harness and in some fit testing felt comfortable with a few things stuffed into it (water bottles, gloves, kill kit etc). I haven't had a chance to use it in the field yet but will shortly.

hydration pack seems like it would fit the bill if you arent looking to carry meat. I like Deuter since it has more airflow across your back. I use it for hiking and mtn biking. For short hikes I use a Osprey Seral waist pack.
Yes, that is what I ended up finding as I was looking for something small. I missed your post back in Nov otherwise i would have commented on it.

The Mystery Ranch Scree 32 is the best daypack I have ever owned, and I have owned a lot of them.

I am not sure about MR now that Yeti took them over .... Yeti is a terrible company ... but if Yeti leaves them alone, then the pack is a winner. Perfect daypack and perfect travel pack and perfectly durable.

I really like Kuiu packs in general, and day packs in particular. Their entire line is very light. For costs, go with the Venture Divide line in whatever size suits you. For comfort, I go with the a small frame pack like the 1800. They don't make many of the small frame packs like they used to do, because they are expanding the Venture Divide line of day packs. I think the smallest frame pack you can get now is the Pro 2300. That is actually a fairly small pack and works great as a day pack. I have one. The small frame packs will compress down to nothing with the compression straps if you don't have much in them, but expand out in you need to include more stuff. The frame only weighs 11oz, so it makes no significant difference in pack weight, but it makes a SIGNIFICANT difference in pack comfort in the rough terrain where I hunt.

The main reason I shifted to a frame day pack is so that I can carry ALL the weight on my hips not my shoulders. I am a big guy and can carry the freight, but my shoulders would get fatigued toward the end of a long hike in or hike out. With a frame pack and a good hip belt, I barely notice the light day pack is there, even at the end of the day.

Another BIG plus is I can mount my rifle to the pack frame either in front or behind my shoulder. I use both a Kuiu gun cradle which they no longer sell, and a Kifaru gun bearer. This is really great and I am not fighting with the sling slipping off my shoulder all the time. This is especially good in rough terrain where I might need hiking sticks or might need to climb rocks, steep grades, or deadfall. I can also put my tripod and spotting scope on the opposite side of the pack from my rifle which balances the weight a little, although that is not necessary as the rifle on one side rides just fine.

Finally, if I kill something, I can easily pack out 100 pounds of meat in meat sling mode under the light day pack. This would not be possible without the pack frame.

This is where I am at. I dont need much of a bag, but being able to pack meat is important to me.

Lil 1700ish sized bag on a frame is damn near perfect for what I do.
