Can anyone tell me the difference between the 824 and 734 other than the 1" height and .7 pound weight difference? In the market for an angled spotter setup (will probably call Doug for the Slider discount). It will be our first spotter and for my wife and I. Would like to be able to use it standing and am 6' tall but also don't wanta ton of extra weight. I know, you sacrifice somewhere. Spotter will likely be the Kowa 773.

If I remember correctly they are almost identical, but the 834 is slightly larger diameter legs allowing for slightly heavier weight to be more stable

The 824 legs are a little stronger. Great if you are in windy areas (Absorbs a lot of vibration) or shooting off of it. Call me, Doug's brother Joel, as I run the photo side of the business. mention Rokslide for special pricing on it

Just some thoughts. I don’t have a 734 but I think with an angled scope you could eliminate some non essentials from the 824 and get closer to 3 lbs. you’ll also benefit from the rigidity of the larger diameter of legs. Also when I was looking the 824 was a good bit cheaper than the 734.

The center column is pretty big and the leg warmers are pretty large, I pulled the center column extension off and it’s like 6 oz right there. it’s still tall enough for me to use binos I’m 5’10”

Here is the 824 (28mm upper leg) vs a 525c(25mm upper leg)

I went through multiple tripods last year, ended up keeping a slick 734 and the 703. I sure have taken a liking to the 703 (similar to 733)
-sets up fast with only 2 sections to f with.
-Just folding out legs is about the right height to shoot from sitting uphill shot, widen legs for downhill shot
-seems to have nearly the same stability as 833 if not better
-folded height is about the same as my pack
-weight with rrs ball head, outdoorsmans tall bino adapter and spike feet is 3lb7oz
