sleeping pad storage

I just purchased a Nemo Tensor Alpine sleeping pad. Is there any reason to store this type of pad rolled out flat or partially inflated? I can see the benefit of this with a down or synthetic type insulation. Looking for advice.

I’ve read that you should store uncompressed, laid flat, with valve open.

I unroll mine and leave on top of my hunting gear

They sure smell better on the inside when allowed to self inflate and hung up. Almost gagged deflating my buddies mattress that stays wrapped up. They must inhale and exhale a little air with daily temperature changes.

Yeah you should unroll them and let them in the fresh air. Otherwise they start to smell badly
