Built out my old Daniel Defense to an 18" 6 arc.

Planning on using it as a deer gun for the kids.

What bullets are you guys using?

I was playing with handloading some 108 Bergers but they seem to shoot like so far. And I'm only getting 2250 fps.

Trying to stick with more temp stable powders. I know a ball would boost that.

On the flip side factory 108 Hornady eldm ammo is about 2600 in my gun.

Is it better to stick with the 108's or should I drop to a 95 grain to get a little better velocity?

Shots should be close. But I was wanting to shoot target long range. Don't see it happening with 2200 fps. It's a new barrel so it should speed up a little I'm sure.

Thanks guys

Seems like the 108’s will maintain enough velocity to wreck deer as far as your kids will shoot with 2600MV.

Youll get an extra 100-150fps with a lower BC 95gr bullet. Probably not going to do you any favors for long range.

My 12 year old boy shot 2 deer last year with 6 arc. Shooting 108 eldm at 2620 with varget. Both bullets passed through and turned the chest cavity to soup. One deer bang flop and the other made it 15 yards.
