Sitka Nomad for extended trips

I am planning at 10 day hunt in alaska this year and have been looking for large rolling duffle bags to carry everything in one big bag. It will need to hold my pack, sleep system, 2x boots, clothes for 10 days, etc. Basically everything but my electronics & optics (carry-on), and my rifle (checked separately).

I have also looked at offerings from North Face, Big Agnes, Thule, etc. I know the bag will likely be 65-70+ pounds with everything, so having wheels is key so I don't have to carry it through the airport and parking lots.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Nomad?

Never seen the Nomad in person. I found a sweet deal on Amazon on a couple of Voodoo tactical rolling duffles and that's what I use. Feel like small foot lockers on wheel. If shipping wouldn't be a killer I'd send one of them to use.

Just ran a few google searches, looked on Amazon, and the voodoo tactical website and don't see anything on wheels? How long ago did you buy it? I'm wondering if its discontinued...

I use an extra large kifaru duffle to carry all my gear. Feel like you give up too much weight with a rolling duffle (Nomad is 8.3 extra pounds) and overweight bag fees are expensive. Rarely do I need to carry the bag any distance between parking shuttles or being dropped off. When I do need to carry I just load my duffle and rifle onto a luggage cart or hire a skycap.

I get that you asked for a rolling bag, and if you're dead set on that, I apologize. But throwing this out there...what kind of gun/bow case do you have? I have an SKB bow case on rollers, so I went with a big Mountain Hardwear expedition bag and hang it on the bow case and drag the whole ensemble around the airport and then still have one hand free to hold a Monster. Likewise, with the bag laying on the SKB and handles on each end of the case, you can pick the whole thing up on each end to load in a truck.

I only mention that because I was going to get a big Sitka or similar roll around. Then I realized I'd be rolling it and my bow case around and that seemed like a pain so I devised this set up and it worked far better for me.

Great point!!!!

Yes, I will have my rifle in a rolling hard sided pelican case, so yeah, I see what you're saying about using it to cart the duffle around.
