Does anyone own the older kelvin puffy jacket? Looking for a review or some personal experience with this jacket! I can’t find anything out about it on the internet, thanks!

I had the full weight "Kelvin Jacket" and it is a monster. It was just WAY too puffy for me. It was like wearing a sleeping bag. IT was warm AF, but the sheer bulk of it was too much.
Currently I'm trying to decide on a "Kelvin lite hoody" or the "Kelvin Active" as a diff option.

Did you not like it than? It would be strictly for glassing high country Montana/Idaho so I feel like it would be good. I got a first lite cirrus lightweight puffy that could keep me warmish if I throw a good base and mid layer on. This is just for extreme cold

I have both the Kelvin Lite Hoody and the Kelvin WS Hoody. I love pieces for different things. I definitely would want more than the Kelvin Lite Hoody when glassing in extreme cold.

I can't recommend the Kelvin WS Hoody enough. It is super warm.

Would you happen to know if the kelvin jacket is somewhat like the kelvin WS hoody?

I think the original Kevin was discontuined in favor of the the lite version. the lite version is just that lighter weight ...it works well as a layer and is warm for it weight. it will pack small in youhr pack when it's not needed.
the down side of this vest would be if your primary using it for whitetail stand hunting it is purely an under layer bacuse of the material.
I really think there are better Sitka options for insulation layers for the whitetail hunter, the active jacket, shaket and Celsius will all insulate as well as the Kevlin lite but will do so quiter and allow you to shed your outer layer if needed.

It’s for western high country hunting, mostly for glassing. And I like to wear my coats around too

I just picked up a older kelvin off of here and its huge definelty sized to fit over everything. my xl fits over my xl Jetstream with layers no problem. the hood is gigantic as well. I thought the "its like a sleeping bag" comment was kind of a joke... but no its crazy puffy. I have the duck oven and some lightweight Sitka puffies too and this thing is next level. It packs down pretty small for the size in the stuff sack. It would be great for glassing or tree stand hunting (what I will use it for) I plan to hike back in my mountain jacket then once I am setup pull this out when its super cold. I think it might even be puffier then the USMC happy suits.

It is definitely not designed to be layered, which I know you said your using it for glassing. The hood is huge and meant to fit over your other hoods. So it doesn't layer at unless you want to have a pillow behind your neck. I also read that the older moldels down insulation is not treated with any kind of waterproofing. So if the rain come stuff it. I picked mine up for a great price and am very happy with it. For glassing it will be great. Just don't take more then a couple steps. I can PM you pictures of it next to my other Puffies (sitka kelvin ultralite and duck oven) if you curious about size comparison.

I love my old Kelvin Jacket. I just got another one in the Ground Forest for this years elk hunt in Colorado. I would run this jacket until about 20 degrees outside or if the wind got really bad and then I would throw my Jetstream over it. The jacket itself is really durable for a puffy jacket and the weight to warmth is about par with other jackets I would say. But all in all a good jacket and a good buy.

I love mine. It's a great winter jacket here in MI. Don't really wear it hunting but it would compress pretty well in a pack. The sleeves are just a little too bulky to layer under any of my outer wear.
