Sitka core lightweight or kuiu peloton 118

I have some older kuiu and the Sitka stuff. I prefer the Sitka but don’t think you can go wrong with either. I have worn both for 3-4 days at a stretch. They both move perspiration and do a decent job fighting odor. Don’t expect miracles though.

Kuiu sizing is a bit wonky. I am a xxl or XL tall in most tops. My kuiu pieces are xl, xxl and xxxl. No consistency among them.

The Sitka core light weight hoody is one of my favorite pieces. Sitka are also making some tweaks to their light weight line so if you don’t need the latest stuff there are good deals on the leftovers from 2018 to be had right now.

Can’t speak to the Kuiu, but the Core Lightweight Hoody features a deep chest zip for dumping heat, and a nice hood and built in face mask for easy concealment, which are features I’ve come to appreciate a lot on both hot and cooler weather hunts.

If you just need a simple base layer, I’m sure both the Sitka or Kuiu would work great.

I have both the Sitka core lightweight hoodie and the Kuiu Peloton 97 which is the older version of the 118. I think the Sitka piece is a little better at wicking moisture and dries fast so its a little better in warmer temperatures IMO. But the Kuiu 97 is probably my favorite baselayer. Super comfortable and the weight to warmth ratio is top notch. Doesn't have a chest pocket or built in facemask like the Sitka does though. Honestly can't go wrong with either but could probably find the older Sitka ones on sale right now. Found one NWT for like $57 a couple months ago

I could be wrong but I thought the 118 is replacing the 130 not the 97? Anyway the core and 130 are basically shirts with odor control, not much warmth and good against abrasions. I’ll give it to Sitka for the hood/face mask and kuiu for fit (obviously your build may differ). Both are nice for hot weather. If you are looking for something when it starts cool and only gets hot for a short time I’d go with the 97.

FWIW, Kuiu has the 97, 118 and 130 on their website still, and none are marked down.

The 97 is a fleece backed baselayer and will be warmer than the 118 or the 130. From what I've read, the 118 is a replacement for the 130. If you look at the Peloton 130, most varieties are out of stock except for 3xl and they don't say that they are expecting more like they do with other things.

The 97 isn't a true base layer, it's a mid layer. The 118 is their lightest base layer, which is what I would go with between the two. I haven't tried it yet because the new model just came out but have heard good things. I also have the sitka core lightweight and FL 150 wick. First choice would be FL for base layer, but definitely wouldn't shy away from the 118.

Sitka but with a lite Aerowool short sleeve base. Amazing piece of kit. Wore it 12 days straight in Alberta, no stink.

The Sitka Core Lightweight Hoody is probably my favorite piece by Sitka. I wear a short sleeve merino shirt and then my Core Lightweight Hoody during the hot months. I then layer on top of it as it gets colder. I love the hood on it. I wish the Core Heavyweight Hoody had the same hood design.

For the past 4 or 5 years, I’ve been using Under Armour for base layers, and Kryptek camo over it. So far, it’s kept me plenty warm hunting here in WY and turns me into a complete ninja to where the critters never see me.
