Looking for some insight on these two heads. I currently am running a K-00 ball head that came on my sirui t024sk tripod and can't get used to it. I have used pan heads in the past and feel that I can glass more efficiently with them over a ball head. I am between the VA-5 and Manfrotto fluid head. Any experience or comparison of the two would be greatly appreciated!

They are both excellent heads. The VA5 has a 6 year warranty vs 1 year. The VA5 also is Arca Swiss, the Manfrotto is not. If you want to mount a rifle, most mounts are Arca Swiss.
Finally with the Promotion we are running, you can get the VA5 for $139.92 and get $15 back from Sirui

thanks joel! I should have included the use to help clarify. I am using these for a 10x42 and 15x56 slc's and and saving up for a swaro 95 that price at 139.92 and a 15 mail in rebate is basically impossible to beat! I won't be connecting a rifle to the tripod right now and don't plan to in the future. I have been leaning more toward the Sirui!

Just picked me up a VA5, although I haven't been able to truly field test it yet, everything leads me to believe that I made the right choice!

I recently bought a VA-5. It's very smooth. I've felt smoother heads but they were much heavier. It's not a true fluid head and you can tell by the feel, however, I don't think you will find a better head at 1lb 4oz. I have no experience with the Manfrotto but it weighs 11oz more than the VA-5.

I don’t have any experience with the Manfrotto head, but I have a VA-5 and it has worked great for me while glassing with binos and with a spotter. While it is not as light as my friend’s Outdoorsmans Micro Pan Head, it is light enough for me and a heck of a lot cheaper. Pans seem smooth. That is a heck of a good deal Camera Land is offering now.

No experience with the Manfrotto, but I've been using the Sirui VA-5 head at the range and taking it out with me on hikes. Both binos and spotter feel smooth and it's what I plan on taking with me on my hunt this year. Give the guys at Cameraland a call. They'll take care of oyu.

I have the Manfrotto and run it with a Sirui 025sk. I really like it. I used it last year with my Razor Binos and have run it a little this year with the 65mm spotter I picked up. Its a little heavier but I feel that the whole system is a little less affected by wind with the extra weight. I have used the spotter in low and moderate winds up to about 25 mph for comparison.
