I generally hunt whitetail in the woods shots less than 100 yds.sight my rifle in at 100 yds and I'm good.now I'm going on a sheep hunt changed scopes to a 4-16x44 and am sighting in at 200 yds.scope says 1 click 1/4" at 100 yds.so at 200 yds is 1 click 1/2" do you double it?if I'm 1" to the right at 100 yds would I be off 2" at 200 yds?5"at 500 yds? my long range shooting is very limited just trying to get figure it out.i'm looking for a place to shoot 500 yds to try it.shooting a browning 300wm A bolt, meopta scope if that matters.
thanks john

Yes, typically it continues to be off like what you said. At farther ranges, A LOT of other things come into play though. I keep a 100 yard zero no matter what distance I shoot regularly.

Find a range and practice, practice, practice! Write down what your bullets do at that range, learn to shoot and read the wind!

Yes, correct, 1@100,2@200, etc.

Look up Ryan Cleckner/MOA on you tube. Explains it pretty clear.

For me, I sight in 2” high @ 200 and hold on to 200, high on the shoulder @ 300 etc.

Shoot and get experienced, when you are confident in your rifle and load you will know.

if you have doubts, your not confident.
