SIG Hunter Games...don't buy BDX?

So the videos from the influencers invited have been posted...below is the video following the winning team. They had 1 of their rifles fail to sync the yardage correctly a few times and started using only the other rifles that they knew worked. Also watched Cowboy Cerrone videos and he said they had 1 rifle fail to sync a few times so didn't use that rifle, and then the last day the glass itself came loose in the scope on his own rifle so they were down to 1 rifle. So of the 2 videos...3 of the 6 rifles got set aside for malfunction. Would you use this new BDX system after seeing that?

I would never trust any scope thats designed to self correct/sync. We are just not there yet. We do have some easy buttons with long range shooting that the shooter can use to make the shot. Using a trued ballistic calculator and range finder with actual field shooting data.

years ago we had to do everything in field conditions developing D.O.P.E for our particular rifles and document it in log books. We are defiantly moving forward with technology and some old ways may get lost. I remember getting excited when we got scopes that the turrets and reticle matched. 🤗

Add the video of corey jacobson launching bullets over an elk's back in MT to your collection.

It was destined to be the basis for many cluster****s from the beginning. Just syncing ballistic curves from my phone app to my kilo 2400 ABS was enough to know it would be silly to trust this system. Sig should be ashamed for bringing it to market. The whole selling point is a shortcut of not having learn and understand a ballistics system and they sold it to a bunch of folks poorly equipped to trouble shoot issues. I can only imagine the number of shitty shots on animals or missed opportunities it has resulted in.

I can't even get a sig to stay zeroed, I'm sure the hell not going to trust the electronics inside that scope on an animal!

Can’t be. I constantly see it said that all scopes are good, it’s just glass and features that’s different….

Yep, the whole 'they're all the same because they all come out of the same factory' line doesn't help anyone.

That, and 'all glass is good these days'.

The problem with these kinds of 'unthink' comments is that they don't teach us how to differentiate, discern, learn - or advocate for quality.

I've taken 3 animals with my bdx on a tikka t3x 270. I use it as a tool not a crutch. I have only shot out to 300 yds with it so I can't comment on long range accuracy and reliability.

I wouldn’t even classify that optic as a “range toy”. Ridiculous. What market are they trying to attract with this?

Well, since I own one and have actual, you know, experience with it i can answer that. In my case the market is guys who want to kill critters under 800 yards without messing with dials, holdover, or bdc reticles.

I have an antelope, 2 deer, and an elk from last season alone as well as bench rest groups out to 400 that are 1/2 moa to demonstrate its effectiveness.

But yeah, you watched a YouTube video which means you're the expert so none of that matters.

I have played around with the system on steel several times. It did work. My biggest drawback aside from it being illegal in Idaho is it's very hard to hold wind out past 400 yards on windy days. There is nothing to reference off of and the dot takes up some space at that distance.

I never said I was an expert or owned it or even had any experience with it.

Are you calling the people in the videos liars? That the videos are a sham or not accurate based on their experiences with it?

Most scope manufactures have a significant failure rate with enough use. The unanswered question is what is Sig's failure rate.

Lots of videos are bought and paid for.....
My red flag is these people/videos were bought and paid for by SIG. And SIG set up the rifles themselves and gifted them to the competitors to do this event as a marketing tool. So when those ones fail In the competition it's not a good sign.

As someone else here said, overall failure rate would be interesting to know. Maybe just a bad batch or something

It isn’t a “bad batch”. I’ve seen and shot several dozen Sig Scopes from the BDX’s to military issue Tango 6’s. They all fail consistently.

I'm not going to pretend like I have any knowledge on this subject. The only thing I'll say is that my BIL swears by SIG optics and wouldn't touch a nightforce based on his experience, not would any of the guys in his unit. He's a highly decorated Green Beret so I basically do what he tells me. I've had nothing but good experiences with their optics personally but only have a few so it's a small sample size.

I also haven't watched this YouTube video, again, because I actually own one and have had it with flawlessly. It sounds like they were having syncing issues primarily which makes me question their competency with electronics more than the equipment, but I don't know.

Sig has a long history with quality handguns that includes hard use in the military. They really have branched out from pistols to scopes, ammunition, rifles, RDS and training. They have some good people working/advising them that have very solid military backgrounds.

However even though there was some head scratching when Sig won the military contract for optics the TANGO6T seems to be well received.
