Sierra Zissou 23 Sleeping Bag- MT

I'll be in Montana in late October/early November and I currently have this bag. I will be in a wall tent most likely. Will this bag get the job done? Maybe purchase a liner as well, or some type of Bivy? I will also have a BA insulated sleeping pad.

I just purchased this bag and am having seconds thoughts if it will work.

Are you flying in to montana? I only ask because if your driving in to base camp it would be easy enough to pack another blanket or two if you are worried about being cold at night. Yes a wall tent will be slightly warmer but still cold at night if not running a stove of some sort.

I'm flying, but I have a friend that is local. I might take a trip down to the Walmart if I freeze I guess!

I have had this bag down into the 20s with an exped down mat and was really cold, although I am a cold sleeper. My floorless tipi isn't exactly a wall tent either

I don't have experience with that specific bag, but I have in years past doubled up bags. I put a regular length 0* bag inside of a long 30* bag, it worked really well all winter long. Just make sure the bags fit in each other and don't pack down all there loft.
So don't be afraid to try stacking bags.

I had that bag last year down to 27*. It resulted in two miserable nights of sleep. I tried layering with pants, beanie, hooded jacket, and socks, but still got very cold. I will be trying out a zero degree bag this year.

My zissou 23 wasn't even close to comfortable near freezing, it has become my summer bag

Different kind of cold out here man. Trust me. I moved out from TN. Get a good zero degree bag and don't look back.

I used 20 degree bags in late September and was freezing. Now I use at least 0 degree. In September when I was using my north face 20 and was miserable every night. After getting a 0 big Agnes and a 0 marmot bag either of those down bags worked really well.

Try the zissou 6 or possibly exchange it. I used mine in 3rd season rifle and was toasty down to 10-15 in shorts and tshirt.

I was thinking about that bag, or possibly a Marmot Tressles 0.. Not really sure. I guess I'll be taking a trip to REI soon and getting some recommendations. I've researched this to death, and would love to spend $400+ on a bag, but I need to keep it below $300 as I still have a lot to purchase for this trip. Maybe I can upgrade in a few years.
