I have about a 25" draw pulling about 65# on a mathews monster xlr8. I live in Canada so moose, elk and large alberta deer are both an option. Ive been using montecs but im interested in trying mechanicals. My bows IBO rating is very fast, but I know short draw/low energy can cause issues with mechanicals opening on impact. I could up my draw weight a bit and just get stronger...

Any advice? Thanks.

Don’t switch. I have about a 27 inch draw also shooting 65. I had a terrible experience with a Rage. Deer jumped the string, broadhead deflected off the shoulder, sickening feeling as it was the only true 150+ inch deer I have had in bow range. Some have success with the mechanical. If everything is perfect, great. But how often has Murphy showed up. Stuck with a fixed blade with a weighted insert. I use QAD Exodus. They are awesome and are one of the best penetrating blades out there.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Unfortunately the 2 blade COC are hard to find/expensive in Canada as far as I can find. Ill see what i can do. Hopefully i can fix my tuning issues and the COCs will fly properly

I’ve had great luck with Thunderhead 100s on whitetails. I hope to try them out on elk in a couple of years.

Check out Seek One’s latest YouTube video on broadhead testing.
