This Friday is the season finale of YoungWild, a new bowhunting show on the Sportsman Channel. In its first season, it has already won two awards and climbed to the top tier of the ratings. The cast and crew have all become good friends of mine, and they allowed me to conduct an interview that is used in this season finale. It's a great summary of an incredible season for them. Lincoln Tapp is a great ambassador of our sport to the next generation. Please watch it if you can!

That is one of only a few shows that I care to watch.

That's really good to hear. I have become really close to these guys. They are great folks; what you see on screen is who they really are. Lincoln is really impressive as a 12 year old bowhunter. He practices about 2 hours every day, and is a very good shot. How he keeps his cool with all the cameras on him, shooting animals in crazy cool places is beyond me. They are all really humble and down to earth guys. I am really inspired by Jim Tapp's relationship with his son, Lincoln. If I had that kind of money, and had a son, I would be doing the same thing. He aspires to be the youngest ever to complete the Archery Super Slam. The record is 33, and his goal is to do it by 18. He has 11 down already, including a record book Stone Sheep. All their hunts are guided, but are also completely fair chase and mostly on public land. Impressive indeed.

I'm with you. Super impressed with Lincoln. The show / Tapp family is a big motivator to me as a father. One of my favorite shows. Lincoln just seems to be "real" and its fun to see his joy and hear his impressive knowledge.

okay..i just gotta ask.

that family just poopin gold nuggets or what? growing up, my family couldnt afford to send me on an adventure like that.. hell, i cant afford it NOW!

the show, i dont watch. it is so well done, but it's just a tad too spiritual for me.

i'll catch this episode tho..!!

They had to be pretty well off in the beginning to get this thing going... But I'd be shocked if the show wasn't covering expenses by this point with all the sponsorships.

I love what this show is all about. Never understood all the flack they have caught for getting their kid outdoors and raising him right vs dumping an xbox and 10 games on him and washing their hands of parenting like so many do these days.

Fair question. Jim made some good money as a commercial real estate developer. In 2008, the market had a bit of a downturn, which afforded him more time to spend with Lincoln. Now the market is picking back up, but he is still making the time to travel with his son. Pretty cool. They make a lot less in sponsorships than you would think. They are only sponsored by Matthews and Sitka Gear. Of course the show generates revenue from the ads, but again, a lot less than you would think. One show can take as much as 150 hours of video/sound editing alone. It's pretty expensive to produce the show in the first place.

As to the spiritual comment, they do try not not to overdo it. Some shows have some spiritual references, and others have none. This one has a few, as I am a Pastor myself and I conducted the interview :)

Hope you can watch the show tonight!

It was well done. Look forward to season 2. And I hear him about sheep country.. Something about it once you done it that leaves itself upon your soul....

Thanks for watching, guys. The full stone sheep hunt was the best episode of season one. It won two different awards: Pope and Young and Wild Sheep Foundation "Best of Show."
