Ok I was able to move the scope forward to get 4 sheets of paper under it and still have proper eye relief. It is a 22” 300WM.

This will never happen on a bolt action 300 win mag with a properly secured scope.
One of the videos @WeiserBucks mentioned. Dude man is shooting a .50 to be fair, but the mounts on those are also pretty beefy so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for your optic to be flexing this much. I'd make sure you have at very least 1mm of clearance between every part of the optic and the rifle.

300 win mag lots. 50 BMG little. What does that have to do with a video clip of a guy shooting a 50 bmg with the rear part of the rail not even properly secured to the rifle? Using that as an example for ops question and setup is silly honestly. That’s the semi auto bucking causing the majority of the poorly mounted rail to flex like that not the recoil energy itself.What's you collective level of experience with .50 BMG and .300 WM?
