Hey all,

I fell for a flipping scam trying to find a pack for my son to match mine for Christmas. I’ve been a member here for a long time and have done many many positive deals and have added advice where I can. Anyhow on hunttalk, I posted a wtb add for a mystery ranch nice frame with a Metcalf bag. The member, since removed over there was named muddyboots. In my haste I failed to do due diligence and got screwed as I thought I remembered the username. Anyhow, the fault is on me but I wanted to share the info here to save someone some headache and lost $$.

His username was muddyboots. His email is [email protected] and his cell used for texting is (225) 532-0869.

My condolences. My RV was broken into & my dad’s storage unit was broken into and his Polaris ranger stolen. I know the feeling. It is infuriating. I would LOVE to catch one of these bass turds in the act. I would love it. I hope it didn’t put a dampener on the holidays. If you are still looking for a pack, PM me what you are looking to spend. I have a few buddies that upgraded their systems this past year. They don’t have a MR, but I think there is an Eberlestock and a possibly a Kuiu system they might let go for a reasonable amount.

Yikes. That’s much worse than my issue. Thanks for the offer. I filed a claim with my bank since I have his info. We will see what comes of it.

Thats sucks man sorry to hear,it amazes me at the lengths people will go to screw over another, especially on a hunting site. Sign of the times,no integrity.

That's why I always use G&S with PP. At least they have been very good at rectifying scammer issues. And if they fail, then I just inform my CC company and they take care of it from there.

Folks, I am actually the real Muddyboots from LRH that a POS scammed my profile and my photo to create a fake ID on Hunttalk. I have been in discussions with Randy over this issue and that person is obviously banned. So to be clear, the Muddyboots on LRH was not the POS on Hunttalk even though they used my profile pic. So this should be a heads up to watch your profile and where it may be found and be careful how much info you provide in threads. Luckily this POS did not have any personal details and only did a copy to Hunttalk. I see there is a Muddyboots on Rokslide and no idea who this is and do not imply it is the same person on Hunttalk.

Lesson or moral of the story is Do Not Assume a profile from one forum is the SAME on another.

I have perused Rokslide over the years and now will try to be more active.
Thanks,

I would like to add:
Screen names are not just yours and can be innocently the same one on another forum or can be a scammed copy of your profile. Do not assume a screen name and their associated ratings makes it OK, do your due diligence every single time.

That is a voip phone number. Meaning it is an internet phone based number not easily traced back to the user as they can be randomly assigned from even as short as hour to hour to dozens of folks. Unfortunately you can't trace him by the phone number. There are ways to trace by that email, but if he's smart enough to use a voip phone, then i'd bet that email of luke d nagel is a quick one hitter also and false. Now, if there was a pic he listed on the ad, or if he texted you other pics, one could grab the meta data off it and narrow down the phone type, gps coords, and fccid on said phone and then a search can be made to find the actual number associated with that fccid, then you can track down the name(sometimes thats even fake on the billing), but more importantly an address associated with that bill. Then you can open up a whole new world of searches linking utility services, dominos or pizza hut delivery addresses etc (yes... all those folks sell ur info when u order takeout, name address and cell #).

Long story, if you have a pic used, not a screen ahot, but a texted pic or downloaded pic from the ad hit me up and i'll see if I can help out this dude
