I had an axis 223 for few years now. Not happy with accuracy replaced factory stock with a Boyd’s. Looking to part with it to something a bit better. Still considering a budget gun but wanted a bit of user opinions. Looking for 1-12 twist. Tha axis has a 1-9.

What's you doing with it?
My old Axis 1:9 was one of the most accurate rifles I've owned with anything between 50 & 77gn. It excelled with 62 & 65gn bullets.
A 1:12 really limits your accuracy potential to 55gn & under, which is great for anything fox-sized & under, but if there's a chance you'll be chasing anything bigger than that, you'll want a faster twist & heavier bullets.

Did you adjust trigger?
I just cut a bit off spring but others have replaced it.
Made a big difference for me and mine really likes the Barnes 69gr Match Burners.

My son shot his first 4 deer with that rifle. It was pretty accurate for the price of the gun but I did put a trigger spring kit on it that I found on eBay that helped a lot. Ugly and a little heavy but as far as utility for dollars spent it's a great value gun.

Uses. Bench work and varmints truck gun. Trigger was worked. 55 gr nos BT was heaviest I’ve tried. Using lapua brass fed 205. Benchmark powder.

Scope? Please don't tell me you're using the package scope that came on it......

Definitely try a heavier bullet. 55gn bullets are the WORST.
Varget, & Tac have always given me far, far better accuracy than any other powder.
