Rustoleum Never Wet... water repellent system

Cool stuff. I can think of tons of possible applications. Not only for rain but I love the way it repels mud and gunk.

Have had friends try it, with mixed results. Yes, it mostly works, but leaves a whitish finish on whatever its applied to.

I was at Home Depot the other day and they had paper boats (like a kid would make) sprayed with it and a tub of water. It was the coolest thing dipping the paper in the water and there not being a sign of water touching it when you pulled it out, completely dry. It did make the paper feel a little gritty like light sandpaper and it did have a dull finish to it.

Looks awesome, i think i will try it. Maybe i can spray my boots, socks, and pants to wade a stream without getting wet :)

Just spray an extra coating on the bottoms of your boots and you can just walk across the water :p

I wonder if it would be ok to spray this on my Timberline pack. It would be nice not to pack a rain cover but I don't want to ruin anything.
I like the comments on that video. "I sprayed this stuff on my a$$hole and haven't wiped since":D

If that stuff is as impervious to moisture as it appears to be, it'd likely destroy the 'breathability' of any fabric or garment it was sprayed on. That might not be a big deal for a pack lid, but I sure wouldn't want to treat a rain shell with it!

Some other demonstrations of this type of Super Hydrophobic spray I have seen claim that the breathability isn't affected.
