I don't want to tell you how to handle your business but I would steer away from those big short revolvers unless you have experience with them already. I too used a Redhawk Alaskan in 454 for a few years until companies started hot loading the 10MM and the Glocks held up to it. I won't say most, but a lot of people I know including my self have converted to the Glock 20 or 40 for bear protection up here just for the familiarity and easy of use. It's also nice to be able to mount a light and have 9 extra rounds. I run a gunfighters inc Kenai chest holster and it rides nicely under my bino pouch.
