Has anyone put a large magnum in a Rokstock? Heavier recoil than a 300 PRC. Specifically I'm looking at a 300 RUM.
Am I the only one thinking this?
In addition I'm considering the Nimrod. Any advice is welcome.

Do it. Rokstock.

(The geometry should reduce recoil, and it would be great to see what happens)

Had a few discussions with UM employees about using a Rokstock for my build. Their uncertainty and suggestions for using something more robust, along with additional fondling of both stocks led me to go with the Nimrod. So I will not be being a test dummy, just still a regular dummy.
However, I do think I may have sparked some thought in testing this and or looking into a beefier magnum version.

I don't think the geometry reduces recoil. It reduces muzzle rise. I've not been shooting them with anything that has enough recoil to matter, but it may actually increase recoil at the shoulder. Instead of losing some energy to muzzle rise, it's directed straight back. That said, the negative comb reduces cheek slap and the shoulder's the best place to feel recoil...so it may be more comfortable to shoot.

Fair points on it being about muzzle rise, not recoil, though muzzle rise is a big part of perceived recoil. Would definitely be interesting to see some heavier cartridges tested in a rokstock, just to gauge perceptions.
